Theodore Lythander Simmion, is a Barron by birthright to the house Simmion. While, the royal rank of the house is quite low on the ladder, the pomp and arrogance of the family is quite high. Though that could be said of most royal houses of Taldor.
Esperanza Theodra Simmion is the youngest of three daughters to Barron Simmion. Their hope for an heir ended with Esperanza’s birth and the untimely passing of her mother.
Her two elder sisters were her seniors by 10 and 12 years. They were old enough to help with her raising, but resented her for the lose of their mother. Barron Simmion, dearly loved and endulged her, but was not capable of bringing up a young girl. Thus, she was left to her own devices.
At a very young age, her curiosity lead her to the rooms of the House’s Alchemist, simply called Chem. He was a wizened old man who was becoming quite bored with his mundane duties to the house. Esperanza sparked his curiosity again with her constant questions and curious excitement for the inner workings of all things, chemical, mechanical, and natural.
Her lack of tact, diplomacy, and concern for court politics made her a terrible socialite. The unchanging facts, reproducibility, and laws of nature made more sense to her than the emotions and whims of the royals her age. She delighted in the fact that chemical reactions did not falter if they were on the head of a gutter rat or the untouchable lockes of her darling older sister. Her father decided it would be in the best interest for Esperanza if she formally studied under Chem (not to mention to save face for the family at court).
Chem died when Esperanza was 17 years old, but she assumed the position and title of Chem. After five years of service to her fathers house and village, she became complacent and yearned to learn and experience new things for study and experimentation. Her father gladly secured her way on a voyage to Kar-Kaurin for a neighboring Lords quest.
